Leyendo un magnífico articulo en la revista “SOLDADOS Y ESTRATEGIA “, se me ocurrió hacer un diorama gigante, 3,60 metros de largo por 1,80 m. de ancho, para recrear una partida de FLAMES OF WAR en 15mm.
EL GUIÓN.-
Con su aplastante superioridad en material y efectivos, los británicos planificaron un ataque en un sector bastante estrecho.
El dia 26 de junio,después de un bombardeo inicial demoledor, la 15ª división de ínfanteria (Escocesa), apoyada por la 31ª Brigada blindada, debía romper el frente alemán entre los pueblos de Cheux y St.Mauvieu, conquistar todo el terreno hasta el Odon y forzar el cruce del rio por los dos puentes cerca Gavrus y Tourmanville.
La consiguiente limpieza de bolsas de resistencia corría a cuenta de la 43ª División de infantería (Wessex), mientras que la 11ª Division blindada ensanchaba las cabezas de puentes para ocupar la zona entre el Odon y el Orne, y la importante cota 112.
Finalmente, estas unidades, junto con la 15ª Division de infantería escocesa, debían establecer unas cabezas de puente al otro lado del Orne y de esta forma tratar de abrir el avance hacia CAEN.
El objetivo de la operación EPSON era la tan ansiada ”colina 112“. Así que el ganador seria aquel bando que controlara la colina 112 (se considera controlado si no hay enemigo alguno en 30 cm. a la redonda) al finalizar el quinto día de combate.
